Don't want summer to end, but can't wait for the fall season? Try Balayage!

Balayage is a new exciting trend sweeping the nation, literally. Balayage is a French term which means to sweep or to paint. It allows for a more natural looking hair color, similar to what nature gives us as children. Balayage gives softer, less noticeable regrowth lines. Balayage is the perfect way to extend your summer look during the cooler months. balayage-sarah-jessica-parker

Below are some pictures of the Balayage process done by one of our master stylists Chhalin! The highlights are painted on by hand in a sweeping motion from base to tip of hair.

Davines Introduces Essential Haircare Line

Davines Minu
Davines Minu

February is a boring time of year - the holidays are over and spring has not yet started to peep through the gray and dreary winter weather.  This year though, Davines has brought us something to get excited about during the mid-winter doldrums - their new Essential Haircare Line.

From Davines:

"The reborn line is a combination of the scientific commitment of Davines' laboratories and protection of the Mediterranean's artisan and cultural heritage, with optimal formulas free from sulphates and parabens, and with just added touch of selected active ingredients grown in Italy that contribute to keeping alive vegetable species at risk of extinction so to protect the biological diversity."

New products are always exciting but even better, Davines has partnered with non-profit Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity through the Presidia Project.  In other words, your hair product addiction is really a contribution to the protection and preservation of biodiversity! Plus, the packaging of the Essential Haircare range is Zero Impact - carbon neutral and is created using the minimum amount of food grade plastics necessary.

All carbon dioxide emissions generated by the production of the containers are offset through contributions to the creation and protection of forests in Madagascar.  So, even if you are buying an aerosol hairspray, Davines is balancing your use of the product by making a donation.

There are nine products families in the new Essential Haircare line.  Many of the families are familiar but revamped to be better for your hair and the environment including the NouNou, DeDe, MoMo, Love (both Curl Enhancing and Smoothing), Melu, Volu, and Oi.

PLUS - the newest addition to the Davines family, the Minu shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and serum formulated specifically for color-treated hair.  Minu has been wildly popular since we put it on our shelves because of its sulfate and paraben free formula and clean citrusy scent.

Stop by Citrine Salon and pick up some of Davines's newest products and feel good about your contribution to sustainable beauty!
