What are some of your favorite services to perform?

I love working with the natural fall of the hair and sculpting the shape to fit a client’s individual features. When it comes to color, I really enjoy using a painting technique because of the way it adds depth and dimension in such a naturally beautiful way. Additionally, incorporating gray hair as a natural highlight does wonders for keeping hair color fresh while avoiding too much of a dramatic change.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not doing hair?

I’m lucky enough to live out in the country on a large property with my husband and four dogs, one of which is just a puppy. So spending time outdoors with them is one of my favorite pastimes! I also enjoy gardening and cooking, and if I can, I use what I’ve grown in my garden . The flavor is much better!

How did you get into doing hair in the first place?

Originally, I never thought of myself as a hairstylist. However, after high school, one of my friends decided to apply for cosmetology school and had such a wonderful experience, I decided to go for it myself! It was such a welcome change in my life, and now I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

Where do you gather inspiration from?

Believe it or not, my favorite place to draw inspiration from is the client themselves! Working with natural textures and creating the perfect cut and color combination is so satisfying. I prefer a subtle look, and strive to enhance what my client is naturally born with. Growing up in California, I learned early on to embrace who I was and never tried to change into something I wasn’t just for the sake of a trend. I always make my best effort to bring that same sense of individuality and timelessness to my clients here at Citrine, because as trends come and go, I am a firm believer that knowing what works for you never goes out of style!

Any must-have products?

Having wildly textured hair myself, I am an avid user of two products: the Oribe Run Through Detangling Primer and the Oribe Curl Gloss! The Detangling Primer is key to preventing damage while dealing with wet hair and makes brushing out my curls the easiest part of my morning. The Curl Gloss is perfect for defining my curls as well and giving them a nice shape and shine that lasts throughout the day. Before I add the curl gloss, however, I always blow dry with the Oribe Royal Blowout, which offers shine, smoothness and a extra heat protection to keep my hair in tip-top shape. For men, I really love both the BB Sumoclay, which adds some texture, definition and hold for all hair types, as well as the BB Grooming cream, which helps tame unruly hair and adds a polished look.
