Getting the Most Out of Your Hair Appointment

Whether you're new to the area or you've been thinking about a fresh new 'do, the idea of changing salons or your usual hair routine can be daunting. The goal, of course, is to have a color and style that perfectly suits your style and aesthetic; however, getting to that point is often easier said than done. We want to share a few of our favorite tips to make sure you leave the salon feeling happy and looking your best after your next appointment.

If you're completely new to the area, you've probably been browsing online for salons near you, reading reviews, and perusing social media photos. This is a great place to start! In order to ensure that you've chosen the right salon to deliver your ideal results, we absolutely recommend conducting your own research and finding a location that suits your needs.

Even if you're not necessarily in a new location but are looking to try something new, online research is still a great place to begin. This brings us to our next tip: finding pictures or any other visual inspiration is a great way to communicate ideas to your hairstylist.

Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want, while others might need a little guidance. Either way, we are here to help! Consider booking a consultation before the day of your scheduled service, so you can meet and talk to your stylist about what it is exactly that you have in mind. This prevents any miscommunication and ensures that you’ve made the right choice. We offer 15-minute complimentary consultations, and always suggest booking one if you’re ever unsure.

At your consultation, make sure you are honest with your stylist and speak up about any concerns you might have. For example, if you never get blowdrys but your stylist suggests doing one, voice your preference! At the same time, come to the salon that day with an open mind. Stylists are trained to know what looks good on people, so trusting them and doing something a bit out of the ordinary might pleasantly surprise you.

Once you decide on the perfect cut and color, make sure to hold off on washing your hair before your appointment. Freshly shampooed hair can be harder to section and apply color, and your stylist will likely want to cut your hair wet in order to style it.

Following any of these steps is a sure way to ensuring a positive, fulfilling salon experience. We want you to be happy with your hair and confident that your stylist can help you achieve exactly what you want. Citrine Salon requires that all stylists have more than 6 years of experience in the industry. We do not work under a tier system, as all hairdressers are master stylists. Your happiness and satisfaction is our top priority- please don’t hesitate to stop in and check out our space and schedule an appointment!
